Answer:

Given,

ABC is a right triangle with <B = 90°.

We know that, Pythagoras Theorem :

(HYPOTENUSE)^2 = (BASE)^2 + (PERPENDICULAR)^2

(i) Given,

AB = 14 cm

BC = 48 cm

Then,

By using Pythagoras Theorem, we get,

(AC)^2 = (AB)^2 + (BC)^2

=> (AC)^2 = (14)^2 + (48)^2

=> (AC)^2 = 196 + 2304

=> (AC)^2 = 2500

=> AC = √2500 = 50

Hence, AC = 50 cm

(ii) Given,

AC = 37 cm

BC = 35 cm

Then, by using Pythagoras theorem, we get,

(AB)^2 = (AC)^2 + (BC)^2

=> (AB)^2 = (37)^2 + (35)^2

=> (AB)^2 = 1369 + 1225

=> (AB)^2 = 2594

=> (AB) = √2594 = 50.931326313 cm

Hence, AB = 50.931326313 cm
