The correct answer is option (b) False.
- Electromagnetic is a type of magnet in which a magnetic field is generated by electrical energy. Electromagnets usually bind to a coil wound. The current passing through the wire creates a magnetic field centered on the hole, indicating the center of the coil. Rotating cables usually surround a magnetic field made of ferromagnetic or ferrimagnetic materials such as steel; the magnetic field stabilizes the magnetic flux and makes the magnet extremely powerful.
- The main advantage of a magnetic field over a permanent magnet is that the magnetic field can be changed rapidly by controlling the amount of current in the rotation. However, unlike permanent magnets that do not require energy, the electromagnetic force requires a continuous power supply to maintain the magnetic field.

The false statement about electromagnet is "An electromagnet is a permanent magnet".
An electromagnet is a temporary magnet.
Difference between permanent and temporary magnet :
- Permanent magnet is the material which retain its magnetism even after the removal of magnetic field. As the word permanent signifies that it will always show magnetic behaviour around it all the times. It means it shows magnetic behaviour even after the current is switched off. Ex: Refrigerator magnet which holds the refrigerator door is an everyday example.
- Temporary magnet is the material which loses its magnetism after the removal of magnetic field. It means that it will only get magnetized for the time period when the current will flow through the coil. Ex: Soft iron or iron nails as in case of soft iron or iron nails as we switch off the current it will lose its magnetism that's why temporary name is given to such kind of magnet.
Thus,we can conclude that the electromagnet is a temporary magnet because it loses its magnetic properties as the current is switched off.
