An electron initially present in excited state of Hydrogen atom is further excited to another energy level by an incident photon. It releases 10 photons while coming back to ground state , out of which 7 have higher energy than incident photon. Then electron was present initially in which excited state ? detailed answer please

Answer:

A hydrogen atom emits a photon of energy when an electron moves from a high energy state to a lower energy state. ... When an atom changes from the excited state to the ground state, the electron has moved from a high energy state to a low energy state. When this occurs, the excess energy is released as light energy.
