It's magnesium because it is the metal which is when burnt in air forms magnesium oxide and this turns blue litmus red

astro9874187: blue litmus red is the result of acid and metal oxides are basic in nature
RookieJin: it's oxide with water is acidic

The first observation from this data is that the element is a metal. It is evident from the fact that the aqueous solution of its oxide turns blue litmus paper red, which means that it is acidic in nature.

It should be noted that acids turn blue litmus paper red and bases/alkali turns red litmus paper blue.

It should also be taken into account that acidic oxides are formed by metals and non-metals form basic oxides.

The metal that burns in air with oxygen to form oxide can be Magnesium and Calcium, etc.

Therefore, noting all the hints from this data it can be concluded that the element is a metal which is Magnesium, Calcium, etc.
