An elephant does not work mechanically, like many animals, He never stops thingking.
Not ever a realy good sheep-dog can compare with an elephant in intelligence I don't believe
that an elephant never forgets but I should scarecely be surprised if he tied a knot in his trunk
to remember something, if he wanted to.
His little actions are always revealing an intellingence which finds in a part of his body
that itches, he doesn't always rule it against a tree, he may pick up a long stick and give himself
a good scratch with that, instead. If one stick isn't long enough, he will look for another.
