an elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 6 metres per minute if the descent starts from 10 m above ground level how long will it take to reach -350m

Hey mate!!!!!

Total distance required = (350+10) since it started 10 metres above = 360

Negative sign means distance below the earth.
Distance should be positive so we remove the sign

Now
Time = Distance/speed

Here given speed = 6m/min
Distance = 360

Time =
 \frac{ 360}{6}  = 60minutes

60 minutes is the answer
