An elevator descends into a mine shaft at the rate of 6m/min. if the descend start from 10m above the ground level, how long will it take to reach the shaft 350 m below the ground level

so the total distance required to travel = 10 + 350 = 360m.
and it's speed is 6 m/min.
also Speed = distance travelled / time.
so time = distance / speed

=> time = (360 / 6) min = 60 mins = 1hr.

The rate of 6m/min means that, in every minute, it goes down by 6m

We have 10 above the ground and 350 m below the ground

Note:

-350 m, means it is 350 m below the ground

Total distance = 10 + 350

                      = 360 m

Time taken = 360/6

                 = 60 minutes

1 hour
