20 m above ground level = +20m

300m below ground level = -300m

Total distance to be covered = 20 - (-300)

= 20 + 300

= 320m

Now, we will apply unitary method.

8m = 1 min

1m = 1/8min

320m = 1/8 × 320

= 40 min

Time taken by the elevator to reach its place is 40 min.
