Mumbai Architecture shows clear evidences of Victorian eclecticism and all the related effrontery. Although the British influence is quite obviously from the colonial era, there is also a hint of influence from difference European cultures of that time, like German gables and Dutch roofs. Peculiarly there are even evidences of Swiss timbering, Romanesque arches and Tudor casements. These varied designs have been fused in traditional Indian styles with such brilliance that the mixture seems like it was brewed by the magical skills of an alchemist.

British surely robbed our country but also left us with some beauties. The architectural influence of British can be seen in many structures and influences Indian architecture even now.

In Bombay many structures are influenced by British Architecture :

● The first and foremost is the centre of Bombay, the heart of the city, The Shivaji Terminus. It was earlier known as Victoria Terminus. The architecture of this terminus is strongly influenced by European Gothic and Victorian architecture. This influence can be seen in the stained glasses, lancet windows and flying buttresses.

● St. Xavier's College is another beautiful evidence of Victorian and Gothic architecture with the astonishing and enchanting carvings and structure making it look like a castle.

● Even the names of most famous landmarks are influenced by the British like the Crawford Market, Wilson College, Watson Hotel, David Sassoon Library, etc. Mount Mary Church is also an influential building from the British time.
