An employer reduces the number of his employees in the ratio 9: 8 and increases their wages
in the ratio 14 : 15. Find in what ratio the wage bill is increased or decreased and find the
difference in the amount of the bill if it was previously * 1,890.

Answer:

Original number of employees = 9x and the present employees = 8x

ii) Original wage/employee = 14y and the present is = 15y

iii) Original total wage = 9x*14y = 126xy and the present = 8x*15y = 120xy

iv) So wage bill ratio, original:present = 126xy:120xy = 21:20

Thus the wage bill is reduced in the ratio 21:20
