Given: an executive took 6 hours to reach the airport at the speed of 60 km/hr

To find: at what speed must he travel to reach the airport in 9 hours

Solution:

  • The path covered to reach the airport is
  • = speed of travel × time taken
  • = 60 × 6 km
  • = 360 km

  • In order to travel the to the airport in 9 hours, the executive must cover the distance of 360 km in 9 hours.

  • So the speed of his travel is
  • = total path ÷ time taken
  • = 360 ÷ 9 hours
  • = 40 km/hr

Answer: He must travel at a speed of 40 km/h to reach the airport in 9 hours.
