Answer:\large{\boxed{\rm{\red{No}}}}

✏The above statement is saying that an insectivorous plant does not makes food, which is false.

The insectivorous plants are autotrophic in nature. You might seen that they even have have chlorophyll, the photosynthetic pigment which helps it to do photosynthesis. But, after saying this, it's little bit confusing that even after Insectivorous plants are autotrophic, why they consume insects or small animals(as they name says, insectivorous plants - plants those who consume insects).

Reason:

Beside photosynthesis, they obtain various essential nutrients from the soil, but unable to obtain nitrogen because these plants generally grows in nitrogen deficient soil. The soil lacks adequate amount of Nitrogen. Plants can't take nitrogen directly from the atmosphere.

Hence, to fulfill their nitrogen requirements, they fed on insects like flies, ants etc. and other small organisms like toads, lizards, anteaters etc. With these they got sufficient Nitrogen for their body.

⚠️ The digestive glands of these plants secretes juices to digest the insects and absorb the soft parts and nitrogen from the insects.

Examples:

The famous examples of Insectivorous plants are:

  • Pitcher plant (Nepenthes)
  • Venus fly trap(Dionaea)
  • Sundew (Drosera)
  • Bladder wort
  • Watwewheel
