Given:

  • Height = 10m

To Find:

  • The time taken by the iron ball and feather to reach the ground.

Solution:

In kinematics, the object is independent of mass.

∴ The iron ball and the feather would take the same time to reach the ground.

The formula to find the same is given by,

T = √(2h/g) → {equation 1}

Where "T" is the time taken, "g" is the acceleration due to gravity(g = 9.8m/s^2), and "h" is the height.

On substituting the values in equation1 we get,

⇒ T = √[(2×10)/9.8] {multiplying the etrms in bracket}

⇒ T = √ (20/9.8) {dividing the terms}

⇒ T = √2.040 [square root of the term}

⇒ T = 1.428s

The time taken by the iron ball and feather to reach the ground = 1.428s.
