→ Rate of water goes out from hole = (-500) gallons / hour .

So,

→ Time taken by hole to empty first 5000 gallons = 5000/500 = 10 hours .

Now, Inlet pipe is also open .

then,

→ Capacity of inlet + Hole = 300 + (-500) = (-200) gallons / hour .

therefore,

→ Time taken by hole to empty another 5000 gallons now = 5000/200 = 25 hours .

hence,

→ Total time taken by hole to empty full tank = 10 + 25 = 35 hours (D) (Ans.)
