An island has a very thin population of p in total, including human beings, animals and birds. No other life forms exist on that island. 50%
of the total human population are men and number of women is 2.5 times the number of children, 30% of the total population comprises
of birds and animals. If the total number of birds and animals is 552. Find the number of human population other than children?

Answer:

Human population other than children = 1104

Step-by-step explanation:

Given,

Total population of the island = p

p = no of human beings+  no. of animals + no of birds

No of men =  50% of the human population.

No of women = 2.5 × No. of children

Total population of birds and animals = 30% × p

Total number of birds and animals  = 552

To find,

Number of the human population other than children

Solution:

Given,

Total population of birds and animals = 30% × p

Total number of birds and animals  = 552

Then, we have

30% × p = 552

p = 552×  \frac{100}{30} = 1840

The total population of the island = 1840

The population of human beings = Total population - Population of birds and animals

= 1840 - 552

= 1288

The population of human beings = 1288

Population of men = 50% of the human population

= 50% × 1288

= 644

Population of men = 644

Population of women and children = 644

No. of children + No of women = 644

Since, No of women = 2.5 × No. of children

No. of children + 2.5 × No. of children  = 644

3.5 × No. of children = 644

No. of children = \frac{644}{3.5} = 184

Population of children = 184

Hence,

Number of the human population other than children = 1288 - 184

= 1104

∴ Human population other than children = 1104
