An object 6cm high is placed at a distance of 6 cm from a convex mirror of radius of
curvature 24 cm. Find the nature , position and size of the image.

Answer 1

h = 6 cm.

u = - 6 cm.

R = 24 cm.

..f = 12 cm.

• Using formula

1/f = 1/u + 1/ v.

1/12 = 1/-6 +1/ v.

1/v = 1/12 + 1/6.

1+2/12 = 3/12

1/v = 1/4.

v = 4.

m = h'/ h = -v/ 4

h'/ 6 = -4/ -6

h' = 4/6 ×6

= 4 cm ⸻➤position of image.

hence , the image will be virtual, erect and diminished.
