Let the total distance be x....

1) Distance = x/2...

Speed= v1

So, Time = x/2v1

2) Distance = x/2

Speed = 2v2

Time = x/2v2

Now,

Average speed

= Total distance / Total time

= x / ( x /2v1 + x/2v2 )

= v1v2/(v1 + v2)

Hope this helps
