let distance are x.

average speed = (x+x)/(x/u + x/v) = 2/(1/u+1/v)
= 2uv/(u+v)

I hope it helps you.

let the distance is S
so time with speed v1= S/v1
also time with speed v2= S/v2

so, the AVG speed= total distance/total time
ie. S/(S/v1 + S/v2)= v1× v2/(v1+v2)

hope you will understand
