Yes , the displacement can be zero provided that final position of the object coincides with its initial position . Let a girl go from her residance to the nearby market covering a distance of 1.5 km ,l. Finding the market closed she immediately returns back to her residance . Now , the girl has covered a total distance of 2×1.5 km = 3.0 km but her displacement is zero .
