It is given that,

The distance of the object(u)= 12 cm

The distance of the image (v) = 12 cm

Let, the focal length be, 'f'

Let, the magnification be, 'm'

From the relationship we know that,

1/f=(1/u)+(1/v)\\or, 1/f=(1/12)+(1/12)\\or, 1/f=(1+1)/12\\or, 1/f=2/12\\or, 1/f=1/6\\or, f=6

So, the focal length is 6 cm.

From the relationship of the magnification we know that,

m=-u/v\\or, m=-(1/12)/(1/12)\\or,m=-(12/12)\\or, m = -1
