Given that,

Object distance, u = -24 cm

Focal length of the convex lens, f = +8 cm

To find,

The nature of the image so formed.

Solution,

Using lens formula as :

\dfrac{1}{v}-\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{f}\\\\\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{f}+\dfrac{1}{u}\\\\\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{8}+\dfrac{1}{(-24)}\\\\v=12\ cm

Using the formula of magnification,

m=\dfrac{v}{u}\\\\m=\dfrac{12}{-24}\\\\m=-0.5

So, the nature of the image is Real, Inverted, diminished.
