Image formed is real and inverted with magnification factor = 3

Given:

An object is placed at a distance of 10 cm on the principal axis of a convex lens.

Focal length is less than 10 cm.

Image of it observed at a distance of 30 cm from the lens.

To find:

The nature of magnification of image.

Concept used:

Magnification factor = \frac{Image \ distance}{Object \ distance}

Explanation:

Focal length is less than 10 cm.

Hence the object is placed in between focus and center of curvature

The image formed is real and inverted.

Image distance = 30 cm.

Object distance =  10 cm.

And   Magnification factor = \frac{Image \ distance}{Object \ distance}

         Magnification factor = \frac{30}{10}

         Magnification factor = 3

Hence image formed is real and inverted with magnification factor = 3
