\bold{ANSWER}

• An object is placed at a \bold{distance} ‘u' =-60cm

\bold{magnification} produced is 'm'=1/2

m = \frac{ - v}{u}

 \frac{1}{2} = \frac{ - v}{ - 60}

-v = -30cm

v = 30cm

f = ?

☞•\bold{using \: mirror \: formula}

 \frac{1}{f} = \frac{ - 1}{60} + \frac{1}{30 }

☞ f=60 cm

m =1/3

-v/u = 1/ 3

v=(1/3)u

f=60cm

\bold{using \: mirror \: formula}

1/f = 1/u +1/v

1/60= 1/u - 3/u

u =-120cm

☞the object placed at the \bold{distance} of -120cm to get a \bold{magnification} of 1/3.
