Given An object is thrown upward to a certain height with a velocity of 3m/s. If the time required to reach the height is 5s. Calculate at which it was thrown

Given initial velocity u = 3 m/s, since it is thrown upwards final velocity v = 0,   t = 5 secs

We have the equation of motion

            v = u + at

             0 = 3 + a x 5

           5 a = - 3

           a = - 3 / 5

So to calculate distance we have,

  V^2 = u^2 + 2 a s

 0 = 9 + 2 x - 3/5 x s

  s = - 9/6 x 5

 s = 15/2

 s = 7.5 mtrs
