is it thrown vertically up ??
then
u = 30 m/s
Time of flight = time taken by the object to come back to the thrower = 2u/g = 2×30 / 10 = 6 seconds .

We know that:
9.8 × t = 30
t = 30 / 9.8
t = 3.06 s
If time for:
Then:
Total time taken by a ball to return back:
3.06 + 3.06
6.12 seconds
Final answer: 6.12 sec
