Provided:

An object is covering a certain distance in certain period of time and the information about its motion of given:

  • 20 m in the first 3 seconds.
  • 22 m in the next 3 seconds.

Solution:

In total, it is travelling for 6 seconds. So, the distance covered in between these 6 seconds of travel:

➝ Dis. in first 3 sec + Dis. in next 3 sec

➝ 20 m + 22 m

➝ 42 m

So, This is our total distance covered. Now we also know the total time taken i.e. 3 + 3 = 6s

Now, Finding Avg. speed by using formula:

 \large{ \because{ \boxed{ \rm{Avg. \: speed =  \frac{Total \: distance }{Total \: time \: taken} }}}}

Plugging the given values:

➝ Avg. speed = 42 m / 6s

➝ Avg. speed = 7 m/s (Answer)

And we are done !!

\huge \mathbb{\underbrace{\red{Question\:}}}

An object moves 20 m in the first 3 seconds , 22 m in the next 3 seconds. What is its average speed?

Given:-

Distance covered in 3 sec is 20m

In next 3sec it covers 22m

\huge\black{\boxed{\sf Solution}}

\mathcal\green{Average Speed}   =  \frac{Total \: Distance \:  covered}{Total \: time \: taken}

️ ➭ Distance 1 + Distance 2

Time 1 + Time 2

️ ➭ 22 + 20

3 + 3

️ ➭ 42/6

️ ➭ 7 m/s
