An object moves from one end of a straight road of length 450m to the other and in 20s.if he comes back from other end to the starting point in 30s , calculate it's average speed and average velocity. With step for this question.

Given,

Length of the road = 450 metres

Time for first journey = 20 seconds

Time for second journey = 30 seconds

For, calculating the average velocity and average speed,we have to apply the following mathematical formula.

Average speed = Total distance/Total Time = (450+450)/20+30

= 900/50

= 18m/s

Average velocity = Displacement/Total Time = 0/50 = 0 m/s

[ The starting point of the first journey and the ending point of the second journey are same. That's why,the total displacement is actually zero]

Hence,the average speed is 18 m/s and the average velocity is 0 m/s.
