an object of length 5cm is placed infront of a canvex mirror of radius of curvature 30cm at a distance of 20cm .find the position ,nature of size of the image

H of object: 5 cm

R of curvature: 30 cm

=> focal length: R/2 = 15cm

u: -20 cm


Applying mirror formula:

1/u + 1/v = 1/f

1/v = 1/f - 1/u

= 1/15 + 1/20

= 4 + 3/60 (taken out lcm)

= 7/60

v = 60/7

= 8.57 cm



Now, m = -v/u = hi/ho

= -8.57/-20 = hi/5

= -8.57x5/-20 = hi

= 2.14 cm = hi

So, The image is virtual, erect and diminished.
