An object of mass 10kg is moving with initial velocity of 2ms-1.To make it come to rest in one second,what should be the unbalanced force.

Answer:

Initial velocity =2ms −1

velocity at rest =0ms −1

time interval =1 second

mass m=10kg

change in velocity in one second or acceleration

=

10−2

=2ms −1

F=ma

F=10×2

20kgms −2

or −20 newton or −20N. The negative sign tells us that the force exerted is opposite to the direction of motion.

Explanation:

v=0,u=2m/s and t=1sec

So 0=2+a*1

and a=-2m/s²

We know force =mass * acceleration

=10kg * 2m/s²

=20N
