an object of mass m travelling with speed v has a head on collision with another object of mass m travelling with speed v in opposite direction.the two objects stick together after the colliaion.what is the total loss of kinetic energy in the collosion?

use conservation of momentum,

mv + m(-v) = 2mU

=>U=0

so there is total loss of kinetic energies of the 2 bodies i.e. 1/2mv^2 + 1/2mv^2
