Features:

1) These forests appear green throughout the year and have heavy rainfall of more than 200 cm with a short dry season. 
2) The trees reach great heights up to 60 metres or even above.
3) Since the region is warm and wet throughout the year, it has an abundant vegetation of all kinds – trees, shrubs, and creepers. 

Flora and Fauna:

1) Some of the commercially important trees of this forest are ebony, mahogany, rosewood, rubber and cinchona. 
2) The common animals found in these forests are elephants, monkey, lemur and deer. 
3) The one horned rhinoceros are found in the jungles of Assam and West Bengal. 
4) Birds, bats, sloth, scorpions and snails are also found in these jungles.
