Answer:

-1.3cm

Explanation:

GIVEN DATA:

object size=4cm

object distance=20cm

focal lenght of converging lens=10cm

TO FIND:

distance of the image=?

size of the image=?

SOLUTION:

first we find distance ,as we know

1/f=1/p+1/q

to find image distance ,rearrange formula ,so we get:

1/q=1/f-1/p

now put values:

1/q=1/10-1/4

1/q=40/6cm

now q=6.667

it is image distance.

now to find size of image ,we know

height of image /height of object=image distance/object distance

so put values:

hi/4=6.667/-20

hi=4*6.667/-20

hi=-1.3cm

minus comes due to converging lens
