An object ‘P’ of mass ‘m’ is lifted from a point A on the ground to point B at a height ‘h’ above the earth by Rina and Mita, but the path taken for doing it is different by both (fig I and II) Calculate the work done in both situations.

in both the cases work done will be same
i.e. m*g*h Work done i.e. potential energy is irrespective of the path followed by the object.

workdone is the product of force and displacement therefore for both situation the workdone will be mgh.
Bcoz, as the body is lifted upward the gravitational force 'mg' will act against it and the displacement is the height 'h'.
hence, workdone= mg * h for the given two situations.
