An object starts from rest and travels in a straight line for 5.0 seconds with a uniform acceleration of 4.0ms^-2. It continues to move with the uniform velocity acquired for a further 12 seconds and is finally brought to rest with a deceleration of 2.5ms^-2.

a) Calculate the distance travelled and the time taken.

b) Draw a velocity-time graph and show how the result from part a round be obtained from the graph

The answer for a is 370m and for b is 25 seconds but I don't know how to get to that answer.

Have a physics test tomorrow. Please include all of the formulas used and all steps.

Here a body is moving with constant accleration so initial velocity musy be taken zero

So, by formula

S= u+a/2 (2t—1)

=0+10/2(2×3—1)

=5(5)

=25m
