An object travels a distance of 40km with avg speed of 80km/h and then next 40km with avg speed of 40km/h. Find the avg speed with the total distance.​

To Find :

  • Find the average speed & total distance ?

We know that :

  • Distance = Speed × Time
  • Time = Distance/Speed
  • Speed = Distance/Time

Solution :

  • Finding the time.

When,

  • Distance = 40km/h
  • Speed = 80km/h

➣ Time = 40/80 h

➣ Time = 0.5 h

When,

  • Distance = 40 km
  • Speed = 40 km/h

➣ Time = 40/40 h

➣ Time = 1 h

Now,

  • Total distance = 40 + 40 = 80 km
  • Total time = 0.5 + 1 = 1.5 h

Finding the average speed :

  • Average speed = Total distance/Total time

➣ Average speed = 80/1.5

➣ Average speed = 53.33 (approx.)

Hence,

  • The average speed of the object is 53.33 km/h.
  • And the total distance is 80 km.
