an oblong field 58m long and 30m wide has two cross roads one parallel to its length and the other parallel to its width. find the area of the cross roads if each is 2m wide

58×2+30×2-2×2=172 this is the answer

Area of the road g h e f = 30*2=60m sq

Area of the road I j k l = 58 m *2m=116m sq

Area of pqrs =2*2=4m sq

The area of pqrs occurs in both of the roads

Area of the roads=(60+116)-4 m sq=172m sq
