An oil funnel of tin sheet consists of a cylindrical portion 10 cm long attached to a
frustum of a cone. If the total height be 22 cm, diameter of the cylindrical portion be
8 cm and the diameter of the top of the funnel be 18 cm as shown in the given
figure, find the area of the tin required to make the funnel.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation: Given, the total height is 22. Length (or height) of cylinder is 10.

Hence, height of frustrum is 12

Area of frusturm (CSA) = πl(R1+R2)

Put R2 = 18/2 =9

Put R1 = 8/2 = 4

L = √(h²+(R2-R1)²)

L = √(12²+(9-4)²)

L = √144+25

L = √169 = 13

Area of frusturm = 3.14× 13 × (4+9)

= 530.66

Now, area of cylinder (CSA) = πRL = πR1H = 3.14×4×10

= 125.60

Total area = 530.66+125.60 = 656.26 cm²
