Yes an opaque object forms shadow as it stops the passage of light to pass through it so it forms a dark patch on the screen or the object behind it which is known as shadow.
When the point source of light is smaller than the object a dark shadow is formed due to umbra grows larger.
When the point source of light is larger than the object the shadow formed is faint due to penumbra grows larger.
