the total surface area of the box = 2(lb+bh+hl)

=2(50x20+20x10+10x50)

= 2(1000+200+500)

= 2(1700)

= 3400 m²

as the box is kept open = 3400 - lxb

= 3400 - 1000

= 2400 m²

Area that should be painted = 2(2400)

(because we should paint it inside and outside the box)

= 4800 m²

cost of painting = 4800 x 50/10000

= Rs.24

if only outside,

= 2400x50/10000

= Rs. 12
