an open cylindrical vessel of internal diameter 7cm and height 8cm stands on a horizontal table. inside this is placed a solid metallic right circular cone, the diameter of whose base is 7/2 cm and height 8 cm . find the volume of water required to fill the vessel. if the cone is replaced by another cone, whose height is 1 3/4cm and the radius of whose base is 2cm. find the drop in the water level.

Answer:
Given,
diammeter of vessel = 7cm
» radius = 3.5cm
height = 8cm
radius of cone =7/4
height of cone = 8cm
Volume of vessel = πr^2h
= 22/7 * (3.5)^2*8
= 308cm^3
Volume of Cone1 = 1/3 πr^2h
= 1/3 * 22/7* (7/4)^2*8
= 25.67cm^3
water required to fill the vessel = 308 - 25.67 = 282.33cm^3
Volume of cone2=1 / 3*22/7 * 2^2*13/4
= 13.62cm^3
Water required = 308 -13.62 = 294.38cm^3
