An operator applies a force pf 200.0 N to the first piston of a hydraulic lift, which has an area of 5.4 cm^2 . what is the pressure applied to the hydraulic fluid ?
A. 3.7x10^1 Pa
B. 2.0x10^3 Pa
C. 3.7x10^3 Pa
D. 3.7x10^5 Pa

Pressure = F/A. You have F. You have A. However Pascals (Pa) are N/m^2 so you'll need to convert the area to m^2.

Answer:

D. 3.7*10^5 Pa

Explanation

We know that          Pressure=Force/Area

Force is given as 200 N

We've to convert 5.4 cm^2 to m^2

For that divide 5.4 by 10^4

It will be 5.4*10^-4

Now we can put this in put formula

p=200/10^-4*5.4   =     200*10^4/ 5.4

200/5.4 is 37(approx)

37*10^4  or  3.7 * 10^5

hope it helped u
