an ore of a metal is found as carbonate what steps would you take to convert such concentrated ore into a free metal??

First u need to do calcination i.e removal of all the Co2 related impurities at high temperature in limited supply of air (thats basically the literal meaning of calcination)

After that the process of refining is done to remove ny ambiguities of impurities that can hamper the free metal formed ( refining process can be zone refining or column chromatography etc)

since the ore is carbonate so the ore must have to cacinated i.e. heating the ore in insufficient oxygen or air....

this will give metal oxide then from this we can extract metal easily..
