The organic compound which is a constituent of wine and beer is Ethyl alcohol (C₂H₅OH).

When Ethyl alcohol treated with alkaline KMnO₄ it produces Ethanoic acid (Acetic acid-CH₃COOH), this acetic acid turns blue litmus to red.

C₂H₅OH + alkaline.KMnO₄ → CH₃COOH

Therefore A =  C₂H₅OH

B = CH₃COOH
