An organic compound 'A' is widely used as a preservative in pickles and has molecular formula C2H4O2. This compound reacts with ethanol to form a sweet smelling compound'B'
1) identify the compound 'A'
2)Write the chemical equation for its reaction with ethanol to form compound 'B'
3)How can you get compound 'A' back from 'B'

1- A is ethanoic acid or acetic acid or vinegar (CH3COOH).
2-CH3COOH+C2H5OH---------->C4H8O2 ethyl ethanoate + water
3-On hydrolysis with dil. alkali NaOH give back A but in it's constituent salt.
4- Hydrolysis of ester
C4H8O2 + dil. NaOH -------*>CH3COONa +C2H5OH
