An organic compound (A) (molecular formula C₈H₁₆O₂) was hydrolysed with dilute sulphuric acid to give a carboxylic acid (B) and an alcohol (C). Oxidation of (C) with chromic acid produced (B). (C) on dehydration gives but-1-ene. Write equations for the reactions involved.

HELLO DEAR,
( 1 ).since the organic compound (A) with molecular formula upon hydrolysis with dil. H2SO4 carboxylic acid (B) and the alcohol (C), therefore (A) must be an ester. further, since oxidation of (C) with chromic acid produces the acid (B), therefore, both the carboxylic acid (B) and the alcohol (C) must contain the same number of carbon atoms.
( 2 ). since Ester (A) contains 8 carbon atoms therefore boot the carboxylic acid(B) and the alcohol (C) must contain 4 carbon atoms each.
( 3 ). The alcohol (C) on dehydration gives but - 1 -ene, therefore (C) must be a straight chain alcohol i.e., butan-1-ol.
( 4 ) If (C) is butan-1-ol, then the acid (B) which it gives on oxidation must be butanoic acid and the ester(A) must be betyl butanoate.
( 5 ). The relevant equation for a reactions involved may be explained as follows:
I HOPE IT'S HELP YOU DEAR,
THANKS

The molecular formula of A organic compound I C8H16O2 that will give a carboxylic acid which will be B and then C will be an alcohol.
Furthermore, on oxidation, the C alcohol will give us B acid with the addition of chromic acid.
The carbon atom will be equal in B and C. A will give 8 atoms, B and C will have 4.
Hence, C dehydration will give us But-1-ene making it a straight chain which must have being butan-1-ol.
When we will oxidise it then we will get butanoic acid which will be B.
