here a is dimethyl ether i.e ethanol..
b is ethanoic acid and c is ester..

1. compound A is ethanol (C2H6O) which on oxidation with alkaline KMnO4 gives compound B that is ethanoic acid

2. compound C is Easter CH3COOCH2CH3

3. CH3COOH + CH3CH2OH ------------------------------> CH3COOCH2CH3. in presence of conc. H2SO4 ( Easter formation which has sweet smelling)
