Bill was the delivery man at the station who befriended the lawyer.
He was indeed very clever.He decieved the lawyer by his apt cleverness.He aptly kept the lawyer in all such places telling him that his presence might make Lutkins alert and he would not be able to serve summons on him for which he had been sent to New Mullion.He approached the people giving them a hint and made the lawyer overhear people as per the plan executed by him.He nicely manipulated the tour and it seemed in all the places that they had reached the place only a few minutes after Lutkins had arrived.All the people he met did not get time to let out the secret.In this way Bill who was Lutkins himself,befooled the young lawyer.
