An organic compound containing C, H, and O contain 40% Cand 6.67% H The vapour density of the compound is 15 . Find the molecular formula of the compund???​

molecular weight =2*vd

molecular wt= 2*15=30

so now

carbon =40%

hydrogen=6.67%

so now c+h+o=100%

=40+6.67+o=100%

46.67+o=100%

o=100-46.67

o=53.33%

(open the excel (book2) and copy this down)

empirical formula=   CH20

empirical weight= 12+2*1+16

=30

so now

n=2*vd/empirical weight

=(2*15)/30      

n=1

molecular formula=empirical formula*n

CH2O * 1= CH2O

so molecular formula=CH2O
