∴ Empirical formula =CH2O

Molecular mass = Eq. mass x basicity =60×1=60

Empirical formula weight =CH2O=12+2+16=30

Nows 30 n = 60 ⇒n=2

∴ Molecular formula = (Empirical formula) x n =(CH2O5)2=C2H4O2
