An ornament contains 55 grams of gold and 5 1/2 grams of copper. find the ratio by weight of copper to the weight of the ornament.

we know that,W=mg,let weight of copper is W1,mass M1, weight of ornament is W, mass M and mass of gold is M2

Here, M=M1+M2

=55+11/2=0.0605 kg

We,know W=Mg......equ.1

&W1=M1g......equ.2

Equ.2/Equ.1=>

W1/W=M1g/Mg

=(0.0055kg*9.8m/s)/(0.0605kg*9.8m/s).......(as,M1=11/2 gm=0.0055kg)

=1/11

So,the answer is 1:11.
